Even the resort town of Erzurum has been affected by the decline in tourism in Turkey. According to the latest data from the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, in the first six months of 2024, the number of visitors decreased significantly compared to the same period last year.
Many hotels are experiencing serious difficulties this season due to the mass exodus of tourists, causing concern among hoteliers. This trend started with Antalya and has gradually spread to other popular resorts in the country, including Erzurum.
Hamit Kuka, consultant of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, said that even in the peak season, hotel occupancy in various tourist centers of the country has dropped to 80%, which is 15-20% lower than last year's figures. This was reported by the portal "Turprom".
