The woman took bribes from TV companies from 2004 to 2012.
Two apartments in the Belgravia district and a mansion in Surrey county of Gulnara Karimova have been arrested in the UK. She is the daughter of former Uzbek President Islam Karimov. Her property is estimated at $25 million. Such information was published by the UK Serious Fraud Office.
"We have uncovered a serious criminal chain with several companies and offshore accounts to bring this property under control," said the head of the office, Lisa Osofsky.
According to the bureau, Karimova obtained huge sums of money through bribery. From 2004 to 2012, she took illegal gratuities from TV companies to help them organize their access to the Uzbek market.
In 2012, a scandal erupted around the woman. She could receive about one billion US dollars. The money was legalized through the purchase of foreign assets, in particular a villa in Switzerland. In 2017, Gulnara Karimova in Uzbekistan was sentenced to ten years in prison for extortion and other crimes.
