UK flag lowered as mourning begins for prince Philip

All flags of the United Kingdom were lowered in connection with the beginning of mourning for the Duke of Edinburgh Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.

All national flags in Britain were lowered in connection with the beginning of mourning for Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His memory was also honoured at the British embassy in Russia. Flags were also lowered on the buildings of the diplomatic mission, the Ambassador's residence and the Consulate General in Yekaterinburg, TASS reported.

The husband of British Queen Elizabeth II died at Windsor Castle at the age of 99. Mourning will last for thirty days.

No new laws will be passed during this period, as the Queen will leave public affairs for the time being. All MPs will wear black ribbons on their sleeves and male MPs will wear black ties.
