Bundestag believes that gas prices will rise if Nord Stream 2 project is stopped

On September 8, the head of the Bundestag committee, Klaus Ernst, told TASS that stopping the construction of Nord Stream 2 could result in lawsuits for Germany from private companies that deal with it. In addition, gas prices for consumers will also rise.

Ernst says that the companies invested several billion euros in this construction, everything was agreed with the German government, so it will not be possible to simply interrupt this process, and fracking gas, which will be imported in return, is more expensive. In addition, now the country needs more gas, it refuses nuclear and coal-fired power plants.

Heiko Maas previously called not to abandon Nord Stream 2 too. He said that of the more than 100 European companies that build the gas pipeline, about half - German.
