The Russian Direct Investment Fund has signed an agreement with Adienne Pharma&Biotech. The document covers the production of the Sputnik V vaccine in Italy.
A press release from the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce said: 'For the first time in Europe, an agreement has been signed between RDIF and Adienne Pharma&Biotech for the production of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Production of Sputnik V is scheduled to start in July 2021. "The decision to sign the agreement will create new jobs as well as allow full control of the production process. It is planned to produce 10 million doses by the end of the year," the statement said.
The Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce worked intensively to organize negotiations between companies from Italy and Europe, as well as with representatives of Russian government agencies. The work was conducted to discuss the possibility of producing the Sputnik V vaccine in Italy.
In an interview with Rai 3 TV channel the previous day Kirill Dmitriev, head of RDIF, said that the production of the coronavirus drug in Italy was ready to start. Previously, it was reported that Italy will produce 700 million doses of the vaccine by the end of 2021.
