The collection of the wreckage of the Chinese balloon shot down off the coast of the United States continues.
Speaking by video link at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition conference, Assistant to the President for National Security Jake Sullivan said that while tracking the movements of the Chinese balloon, the Pentagon obtained a lot of data on China's intelligence capabilities.
He noted that the collection of debris is still underway and also needs time to study it, "but we have already been able to obtain a lot of data on the capabilities and methods of reconnaissance of this balloon."
The Chinese balloon, which the US claims is a reconnaissance balloon, was followed for several days by different means.
The results of the examination, Sullivan said, will be shared with the previous administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, with its key representatives.
Note that the Chinese authorities immediately stated that the balloon was a civilian weather balloon that went off course. After it was destroyed off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, the Chinese Foreign Ministry protested the attack on the civilian unmanned balloon.
