Vice Chancellor Robert Habek's plan to replace gas from Russia has failed, said CDU Bundestag MP Thorsten Frei.
Germany's plan to replace Russian gas with LNG has failed. This statement was made by Thorsten Frei, a member of the CDU Bundestag. This was reported by the Bild.
The author of the plan was the Vice Chancellor, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habek. According to Frei, the strategy cannot replace the amount of gas that Germany will need next winter. The problem is that Germany does not have the necessary ships to carry LNG. According to Martin Kreger of the Ship Owners' Union, there are about 500 such tankers worldwide, but demand is high.
Robert Habeck had planned to ship 13 billion cubic meters of gas to Germany by sea in the first half of 2023. This would allow for a partial replacement of Russian energy resources.
