At a meeting with Turkish youth in the city of Şanlıurfa, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the start of preparations for the creation of a gas hub in the country, through which gas would be distributed to Europe.

"As you know, the esteemed Mr. Putin suggested that we create a gas hub in Turkey to distribute gas to Europe. We are now making preparations for this," said Erdoğan, whose speech was broadcast Sunday, December 4, on TRT television.

Putin proposed the creation of a gas hub in Turkey in October this year. The new hub, the Russian president said, would allow European countries to make up for lost volumes of supplies through the Nord Stream pipeline.
