The Swiss parliament criticized the Swiss government for joining the seventh package of anti-Russian sanctions. The Swiss People's Party said the move violated the country's constitution.
RIA Novosti reports that Andrea Zomer, spokeswoman for the Swiss People's Party, said the authorities violated the country's constitution by supporting another EU sanctions package against Russia. This is about neutrality, which Switzerland adheres to.
"The imposition of sanctions violates the country's neutrality and therefore its constitution. The constitution states that Switzerland is neutral. We are against sanctions," Zomer said.
Earlier it became known that Swiss authorities joined the seventh package of anti-Russian sanctions. It is reported that the restrictions will mainly affect imports of Russian gold and gold products.
