The new prime minister would lead the country from 2022-2023.
Geo TV reported that Pakistan has chosen a new head of government. Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, who would lead the state from 2022-2023, became the new head of government.
According to Ayaz Sadiq, speaker of the national assembly, Sharif received 201 votes, while his rival for prime minister, Omar Ayub, received 92.
It is known that Shehbaz Sharif came to power at the head of a coalition government in 2022 after Imran Khan was ousted. The newly elected prime minister was at the head of the country until the dissolution of the Parliament of Pakistan last year.
Earlier, Sharif was in charge of Punjab province. In addition, his deal to release a new aid package from the IMF helped avert a financial crisis in the country.
In late January, it was reported that the former head of the Pakistani government Imran Khan was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
