For the 31st time, the UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution that condemns the United States trade and economic embargo against Cuba, imposed in 1962, and demands its end.
It is known that 187 countries supported the document. America and Israel voted against it, while Ukraine decided to abstain.
The USA broke off all diplomatic contacts with Cuba in 1961, when Washington's real estate was nationalized on the island. On February 3, 1962, US authorities imposed a trade and economic embargo against Cuba. Havana claims that this American move caused $159 billion worth of damage to the island's economy.
Cuba has been proposing since 1992 that the UN General Assembly consider a resolution to lift US sanctions. The majority supports the document.
Recall that the US condemns the attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington.
