The U.S. Federal Reserve announced a 75-point increase in the prime rate. This is reported on the website of the regulator. It is noted that the basic interest rate increases for the fourth time.

Following the last November meeting, the Fed decided to increase the interest rate to 3.75-4 percent.

In addition, the Federal Reserve reported that they consider it appropriate to continue raising the target range of the prime rate, as the main task of the regulator at the moment is to combat soaring prices and return to 2% inflation.

Earlier, experts in a conversation with The Wall Street Journal said they doubted that the Fed would be able to continue raising the rate without provoking a rise in unemployment and economic recession.
