Bilateral trade between Georgia and Kazakhstan is growing and cooperation is strengthening. This is necessary for the development of the Trans-Caspian transportation route. This was announced by the head of the Kazakh government Alikhan Smailov at a meeting with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili.
"Georgia is a reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus. We are strengthening our cooperation in the development of the Trans-Caspian international transportation route. Thus, for six months the volume of cargo transportation through the Trans-Caspian route has increased by 77%," Smailov said.
At the meeting he also touched upon the topic of digitalization, ensuring stable transportation tariffs and formation of a single logistics operator. Smailov specified that it is important for Kazakhstan to cooperate with Georgia in the fields of transportation and transit. The parties during a visit in late June agreed to increase trade turnover.
