China has launched a regular freight railroad connection with Europe via the Russian Federation.

According to Xinhua News Agency, citing China's largest logistics company Sinotrans, this will allow goods to be shipped directly from Beijing to European countries, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

Geng Zhanfeng, deputy general manager of Sinotrans' North China branch, added that a freight train carrying construction materials, electronics and other goods left a logistics hub in Pinggu district, northeast of Beijing, for Moscow on Monday, July 1.

Cargoes will be sent along this route at least once a month.

The trial run of the train took place in March 2023.
