Researchers at the University of Calgary in Canada have developed an effective stroke drug that is widely used to eliminate blood clots in heart attacks and is well tolerated. The study was published in The Lancet.

In Canada's largest stroke study, experts have been able to prove that the drug tenecteplase, which is commonly used to help patients with heart attack, is excellent for emergency cases of acute ischemic stroke.

Researchers have found that the drug alteplase, which is traditionally used for stroke, has properties that make it difficult to excrete. The patient is required to connect an infusion pump. This procedure takes about an hour. At the same time, medics can administer tenecteplase to a person quickly and anywhere a stroke strikes.
