But with the proviso that the clause recognizing the independence of the Republic of Kosovo will be excluded from the discussion. Belgrade also opposes Kosovo's membership in the UN.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after talks in Brussels that the Serbian authorities have agreed to discuss the implementation of the EU proposal to normalize relations between Serbia and Kosovo, but there will be no mutual recognition of the parties. Also, Belgrade is against Kosovo joining the United Nations (UN).
"Serbia is ready to work on the implementation of many provisions of this plan, but we have clearly voiced one big point. <We are talking about the fact that there can be no talk about mutual recognition and Kosovo's accession to the UN," Vucic emphasized.
The agreement "On the Road to Normalization", whose provisions were supported by both Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, stipulates the rights of Serbian and Kosovo citizens to travel between the regions, and promises more security for Kosovo Serbs.
Also, according to the agreement, Serbia must accept that it will not oppose Kosovo's membership in any international organization.
