According to FSHR President Tkachev, this proves once again that sport unites.
On November 1, at the Grand Swiss tournament, Russian Artemyev and Ukrainian Kuzubov shook hands before and after the seventh round game. This happened despite the recommendations of the Ukrainian Chess Federation to refrain from shaking hands with Russian chess players.
According to Alexander Tkachev, president of the Russian Chess Federation, the Ukrainian chess player acted like a sensible person, and this episode once again proves that sport unites.
The only thing that upset Tkachev in this situation was Artemyev's loss. The Grand Swiss tournament will continue until November 5.
