According to a government official, starting January 1, 2023, Turkey will introduce a two percent tax on accommodation in hotels. The country's authorities decided to introduce this tax in 2019, but were forced to wait because of the pandemic. It is reported that the rate will be 2% of the cost of services such as accommodation, meals and use of the pool.

On the one hand, the amount seems insignificant, comparable to the cost of PCR tests. On the other hand - given the trend of rising prices for holidays in Turkey - the tourists incur an additional cost. But the Turks are upping the ante; they expect 50 million tourists from all over the world in 2023 and realize that resorts and good hotels will not be enough for everyone.
