The head of the commission of hoteliers "Opory Rossii" Eduard Demidov in a commentary on "Nevsky Novosti" said that during the pandemic St. Petersburg lost 90% of tourists from foreign countries. According to him, today the city is visited mainly by guests from Asia and North Africa, as well as from the Middle East.
Demidov added that although the previous volume of tourism has not yet been restored, it has increased by 10-15%. According to him, students are again sent to St. Petersburg.
“Yesterday 26 people from Malaysia and Indonesia came to us, students from North Africa are going to study and rest. There are also business trips, ”he said. The expert explained that Germans come with such visits more often, and Italians just travel.
