Russian air carrier Red Wings Airlines is launching charter flights from Moscow to Mattala airport starting from December 28. The planes will depart twice a week, the Adaderana newspaper reported with reference to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Moscow.

It is worth noting that the resumption of direct flights will be a very important event for the tourist infrastructure of Sri Lanka. It is reported that the seats for the first flights are almost fully booked.

It is assumed that Red Wings will gradually increase the number of aircraft and will start launching regular flights as soon as it is accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.

Note that in addition to Red Wings, tourists can go to the popular resort by direct flights of two other airlines - Azur Air and Aeroflot.
