Due to the increasing demand for tours to Sri Lanka, the leading Russian tour operators are trying to increase the capacity.
Since the beginning of 2023, almost every third tourist arriving on vacation in Sri Lanka was from Russia. This is reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
It is noted that Sri Lanka is one of the most popular tourist destinations for holidays in the winter season. Thus, almost every third traveler visiting Sri Lanka in the first month of the new year came from Russia.
Due to increasing demand for tours to Sri Lanka the leading Russian tour operators are trying to increase the carrying capacity. Tour operator FUN&SUN within the framework of cooperation with air carrier Red Wings will launch an additional flight from Moscow to Mattala. The departure of the first plane is scheduled for February 10.
We would like to add that Sri Lanka has decided to extend the validity of visas for tourists from Russia for up to six months. This measure was taken to support the tourism industry, seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
