Russian tour operators admit to opening EU borders by summer

Not all European countries are concerned. It is not only the pandemic situation that will affect the opening of borders.

Some European Union countries are ready to open their borders to Russians by summer. This was announced by Head of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Andrei Ignatiev at a press conference.

In particular, Greece, Croatia and Hungary are ready to resume Russian tourists. However, in summer the situation will depend not only on the pandemic, but also on political preferences of the European Union authorities, as no one cancelled the Schengen Agreement, he added.

The decision to open the borders should be a general one. Greece, Croatia and Hungary cannot use tricks to transit tourists through their territory to other EU countries, Ignatiev said.

There is no official information on visas either, added the head of the Russian Union of Travel Industry. According to him, many representatives of the Russian tourism industry are optimistic about the development of the situation by the summer, but everything will depend on the incidence of COVID-19.
