Almost a third of vacationers in Mongolia are Russians. But they are mostly residents of Altai and Buryatia, who come to fish on weekends. There are not very many tourists from the European part of the country.
The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia reported that out of 300 thousand tourists who entered the country, 100 thousand are guests from Russia, occupying 29% of the total tourist flow. More vacationers come only from China.
Travel agencies note that often Mongolia is visited by residents of border regions and they organize their own recreation. For example, residents of Buryatia and Altai visit the neighboring state on weekends to fish.
Due to the lack of direct flights from Moscow to Ulaanbaatar and back from central Russia there are very few tourists. A tour for 10 days will cost more than 150 thousand rubles, not counting the road. A flight will cost another 35 thousand rubles, and bus tickets now cost about 9 thousand. Usually vacationers want to see the Gobi desert and the capital of the country.
