Japan imposes various restrictions on vacationers due to record number of tourists

In 2024, a record 33 million people may visit the country. Because of this, restrictions are being introduced for tourists in the most attractive areas of the country.

The Spanish edition of El Pais reports that the Japanese authorities intend to introduce restrictions on tourists arriving in the country. It is noted that compared to 2023, the number of tourists who visited the country for a year increased 8 times: from 3 million people to 25 million. And by the end of the year they will already be 33 million, which will be a record since 2019.

The authorities of Tokyo reported that in one of the districts of the city have already limited night entertainment, as they interfered with local residents with their noise. In some prefectures of Okinawa, tourists have to pay an entry tax, visiting Mount Fuji was made paid.

In addition, due to the record tourist influx, many companies in transportation and trade went bankrupt, facing staff shortages.
