Modern Russian pensioners have radically changed their tourist preferences. Instead of passive rest, they are increasingly choosing exploratory trips and cruises.
Analysis of reservations of tour operators shows that 62% of Russian pensioners choose foreign destinations, while 38% prefer domestic tourism. Among international destinations, Turkey became the absolute leader (27% of all trips), followed by the UAE (19%) and China (15%). It is noteworthy that 43% of elderly tourists travel with grandchildren, choosing countries with direct flights from Russia.
Cruise tourism grew among pensioners by 23% compared to 2023. As noted in the company "Art-tour", this format allows you to visit several countries in one trip without tedious moves. Mediterranean cruises with visits to Greece, Italy and Croatia are particularly popular, as well as cruise ships on the Volga and Danube, according to gazeta.ru.
Experts note three key factors that influenced the new preferences:
- 68% of pensioners now book tours independently via the Internet
- Increased number of special offers for the older generation
- There are new direct flights to exotic destinations
At the same time, 82% of elderly tourists include in their program at least three excursions, demonstrating the desire for an exploratory holiday.
