In the autumn of 2022, direct flights to Thailand may again become available to Russian tourists.
According to Titiporn Manenate, executive director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the authorities plan to return tourist flows to Thailand, which were before the pandemic coronavirus. Previously, almost 1.5 million citizens came from Russia per year. Two problems are being solved at the moment - the lack of flights and the inability to pay in Thailand by card, which is issued by the Russian payment system.
Titiporn Manenate noted that these issues will soon be resolved.
Currently, the launch of direct flights from Russia to Thailand is being discussed. First, the launch of flights from Vladivostok by Malaysian Air Asia is planned, and then - from Moscow to Thai Airways.
According to her, the issue of cards takes time. She hopes that Russians will soon be able to pay for resorts in Thailand with "Mir" cards.
