Russia became the leader in terms of arrivals to the Seychelles in 2021. Russians accounted for 17% of the total foreign tourist flow. It is noted that for the Russian market Seychelles has always been considered a luxury destination.
According to experts, such a sharp increase in demand for the Seychelles in 2021 was caused by several factors. One of them is related to the fact that the well-off Russians, whose income during the pandemic almost suffered, because of the closure of Europe and most of Asia, faced an acute shortage of available destinations for luxury holidays.
Also affected the demand is the fact that the Seychelles takes both vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists. To enter just a PCR test is enough, quarantine does not need to be complied with. Tourists appreciate the fact that Seychelles has never changed the rules of entry during the pandemic. Russians here did not face a shortage of rooms, which is usually observed in pre-pandemic years.
High demand is also due to the first program of direct scheduled flights from Russia to Seychelles. Prior to that, Russians were traveling to the islands only with connections.
