The outbound tourism market from Russia has almost fully recovered after the pandemic, and by the end of 2025 the number of trips abroad may reach 13 million people. This was reported in the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), noting the particularly high interest of Russians in Asian destinations.

Vietnam showed the greatest growth: in the first six months of 2025, almost 260 thousand Russian tourists traveled there, which is 2.4 times more than a year earlier. Such a jump was possible thanks to the launch of charter flights to Nha Trang, which made the country a year-round destination. Only in June Vietnam received about 50 thousand tourists from Russia.

The interest in other Asian countries is growing no less actively. In June, tourist flow to Japan increased by 112% compared to the same period last year and reached almost 12 thousand people. Thailand also showed positive dynamics with an increase of 12%. Among the popular destinations were China, South Korea and Taiwan.

Experts attribute the shift of tourist interests towards Asia not only to the general recovery of the market, but also to the expansion of flight programs, which make long-haul destinations more accessible to Russian travelers.

Let us remind you that it is not Turkey and Egypt: Russians are actively exploring new destinations for vacation.

We would like to point out that air tickets within Russia have fallen in price by a third this summer.
