The authors of the initiative to abolish the visa regime were Prime Minister Dinesh Gunavarenda and the country's ministers of foreign affairs, tourism and public security.

According to politicians, free visas will increase the flow of tourists to Sri Lanka. Travelers will also be able to save money and time.

Ceylon (the former name of the country) chose countries that were considered promising. The effective date of the decision is unknown. However, most likely, free visas will begin to operate in the near future; the velvet season will soon begin in Sri Lanka.

Now residents of Russia can get a visa to Ceylon for 50 dollars, upon arrival - 60 dollars. After the introduction of free visas, the savings will be about 5 thousand rubles.

Let us remind you that analysts reported that Russian tourists more often choose short-distance trips.
