Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary and Estonia were the most unlucky.
The Hungarian Tourism Agency reported that already in the first half of 2022 the number of incoming travelers decreased by 37% compared to the picture in 2019. The biggest outflow is observed among tourists from the United States.
Tourist trips to Poland were cancelled 40% more often, said Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, deputy minister of sports and tourism of the republic.
Tourist company Last Night of Freedom has reported the highest rate of tourist outflow in Slovakia. In numbers, it is about 50% of the 2019 data. In Lithuania, the passenger flow decreased by 39%.
Experts on tourism suggest that some tourists are afraid to come to Eastern Europe because of the coronavirus, but the primary reason is still an unstable situation in the world.
Estonia closes the circle of crisis economy. Because of sanctions 175 cruise ships to Tallinn and St. Petersburg have been cancelled.
