Biologists said the bright red-colored soleros are not a threat

Scientists attributed the color change from green to red to the blooming of the plant.

Soleros that grow on the shores of the Vityazevsk estuary near Anapa have turned bright red. Tourists admire this phenomenon, while some are afraid of the plants, believing that they may be poisonous.

Ecologists reassured tourists, saying that the color change of soleros from green to bright red is a completely normal phenomenon caused by their blooming. In addition, the color is explained by the pigment contained in the plants, which, despite the intimidating color, are perfectly safe.

According to Veniamin Golubitchenko, a member of the environmental council under the governor of Kuban, in addition to red, soleros can also turn pink, brown and bluish shades.

"The bulk of these unusual plants are found on the Taman Peninsula," Komsomolskaya Pravda-Kuban quoted the biologist as saying. This is explained by the fact that a large number of salty estuaries are concentrated in this area.
