The Russians were promised to pay the debt by the end of the year.
"Air sanctions" and unstable flights have brought ruined vacations to Russian citizens and more debts to tour operators. The new debts are added to those incurred due to covid restrictions, when many departures were cancelled en masse or postponed indefinitely.
As of 2022, the debt already exceeds 40 billion rubles.
"Although tourism has not recovered to the required level, tour operators are slowly trying to fulfill all obligations and expect that most of the debt will be closed by the end of this year," said the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova.
Rostourism is actively addressing this financial issue, but not all tour operators are still able to fulfill payment obligations to the tourists who could not go on vacation due to restrictions.
