Nana Gvichiya, the acting head of the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee, said that in 2024 the city on the Neva River was visited by 20% more tourists than in the last first half of the year. In total, about 4.1 million guests have already come to the city. According to the forecasts of the city authorities, more than 10 million tourists from Russia and other countries should visit St. Petersburg by the end of the year.

Gvichiya also noted that since April in the city levied tourist tax, which is paid by visitors daily, if they stay in a hotel. During this period, the city budget received more than 130 million rubles.

City deputy Oksana Dmitrieva noted that this is clearly less than it should be. Probably, the shortfall is due to the fact that hostels and hotels, which are located in the former housing stock, are not formalized accordingly.

Earlier it was reported that in St. Petersburg this year came three times less tourists from China than expected.

Before the "Scarlet Sails" hotel owners raised room prices.
