In total, since the beginning of the year in Spain has already vacationed more than 40 million foreigners. It is also noted that they began to spend noticeably more money.
The National Institute of Statistics of the Kingdom of Spain reported that in the first six months of 2024, the country set a new record for the number of tourists. During this period, Spain was visited by 42.5 million vacationers from other countries, which is 13.2% more than in the same period last year.
Most often tourists come from the UK, France and Germany. Cumulatively, guests from all countries left in Spain 55.57 billion euros, which is already 20.6% more than in 2023 for the same period. Part of Europeans this year, Greek resorts have traded for Spanish resorts.
But not everyone was happy about this influx of vacationers. Residents of Spanish resort towns staged protests against the influx of tourists, as, taking advantage of the growing demand, the business is driving up prices for housing.
