The Voronezh Region is confidently gaining a foothold on the tourist map of Russia, demonstrating growth in the number of guests and industry revenues. However, experts note that in order to unlock its full potential, the region needs to take a number of systemic actions.
The Voronezh Region is strengthening its position as a promising tourist center of the Central Federal District. However, to fully realize its potential, the region needs to overcome the legacy of past years, says political scientist Dmitry Nechaev.
According to experts, the region is experiencing sustainable development of the tourism industry. As political scientist Oksana Dyakina noted in an interview with Moskovskaya Gazeta, the volume of paid tourism services in the region has exceeded 4 billion rubles, and the annual flow of tourists is approaching 1 million people.
The share of tourism in the gross regional product (GRP) has reached 3% and continues to increase. The main demand is formed by residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, whose average expenses are 4 thousand rubles per day.
The Voronezh Region is actively developing its hotel stock, including both premium hotels and local guest houses. Large projects are designed to receive up to 33 thousand tourists annually, which allows it to cover different categories of travelers.
The region is focusing on historical and cultural attractions and natural recreation areas. However, to reach a new level, it is necessary to modernize approaches to promotion and infrastructure, experts emphasize.
Earlier it was written that Siberia and the Arctic are creating tourist routes. In addition, our country was on the list of leaders in the number of tourists in Mongolia.
