Intense hurricane winds and waves of the Black Sea, which broke out on November 26, continue to leave their sad traces on the Sochi coast for the fourth day. This is the first time in three decades that coastal waves rose to six meters in height, KP.ru reports.

Lazarevsky received one of the worst damages from the storm. The road to one of the resort's popular spots is blocked. Repair of the railroad tracks has been going on for four days. Due to the impact of the waves, the rails shifted and approached the shore. Workers are now restoring the tracks, filling up the ground and installing special sea drains for protection, similar to defensive structures. Previously, such measures had not been used. This manifestation of the elements was an unprepared test for the neighborhood.

What was previously considered an advantage of Lazarevsky for tourists, now turned out to be its disadvantage. The district is too close to the sea. The waves here have blown away lanterns, embankment tiles and fences, says the owner of one cafe. Now they are all literally picking up the pieces of their business.

Now it is important to restore everything as soon as possible, businessmen say. The New Year is coming soon, and people prefer to celebrate it in cozy Sochi," says the owner of another establishment, taking apart the tangled grills left after the storm.

Piles of construction debris, which used to be sun beds, tables and bungalows, can be seen on the beaches. The size of the damage from the elements has yet to be calculated.

Recall that earlier environmentalists began to sound the alarm because of washed away entire beaches in Anapa.
