The head of the region said that the regional tourism industry has already fully recovered from the consequences of the pandemic. Last year, more than 2.3 million tourists came to Altai.
Governor of Altai Krai Viktor Tomenko said that the region has become one of the leaders of the country in terms of invested funds in the tourism industry. The official noted that the tourist attractiveness of Altai is only increasing from year to year.
In 2023, 2.3 million tourists visited the region, which indicates the recovery of the industry after the decline of the times of covid restrictions. The head of the region noted that this was achieved thanks to injections from the federal and local budgets.
Last year the tourism industry attracted more than 3 billion rubles worth of private investment, and another 1 billion rubles was received from various state funds. Almost 90% of the tourism business is accounted for by small and medium-sized businesses.
Earlier it was reported that Irkutsk and Kazan signed an agreement on joint development of tourism.
St. Petersburg's tourism business missed two-thirds of Chinese tourists. The attractiveness of the city turned out to be greatly overestimated.
