According to The Sun, replacing meat with low-calorie potatoes may accelerate weight loss "without much effort".

Researchers at the Pennington Center for Biomedical Research at Louisiana State conducted an experiment among 36 people from 18 to 60 who were overweight or obese.

Participants were offered a diet that included either beans, peas and meat or fish, or potatoes with meat or fish.

About 40 percent of people's usual meat consumption was replaced by beans, peas or potatoes.

It turned out that this diet satisfied hunger and reduced weight by reducing calories.

"When we replaced some meat with potatoes, participants felt full faster and often didn't even finish their portion," explained study co-author Candida Rebello.

According to the professor, potatoes had no negative effect on blood sugar levels.

The study showed that the increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes was not related to the consumption of this food.
