Kazakhstan's shooting team won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in the mixed air rifle competition. The team, featuring Alexandra Li and Islam Satpayev, beat Germany for third place.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended international sports federations to suspend Russian and Belarusian athletes from participation in the competition.
At the end of 2023, the IOC allowed the Russians and Belarusians to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games as neutral athletes, provided they fulfill certain requirements and qualify.
July 18, IOC published a full list of Russian athletes, allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in 2024, which includes 15 people.
Before that, the State Duma suggested that athletes should be obliged to know the national anthem and take an oath. Also the workers of the hotel in Paris, where the IOC hosts, went on strike.
