In the MLS regular season game between Inter Miami and LA Galaxy, the teams were unable to determine a winner, ending in a 1-1 draw, the league's official website reports.
Los Angeles took the lead in the 75th minute of the match thanks to Dejan Jovelic's goal. However, Inter Miami managed to avoid defeat thanks to Lionel Messi's goal in the second minute of extra time in the second half. For the Argentine player, this goal was the first in the MLS season.
Earlier Messi was recognised as the most popular sportsman in the USA according to the SSRS research company. Five per cent of those polled cast their votes for the Argentine forward, which was enough for him to win the ranking.
