Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Vedenin died at 81

On Saturday, October 23, two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Vedenin passed away. He won gold medals at the 1972 Sapporo Olympics.

Vyacheslav Vedenin died at the age of 81. There is information that he suffered from blood clots. In addition, the athlete underwent two operations.

According to the Match TV channel, Vyacheslav Vedenin's funeral will take place in his native village in the Tula region. The exact date of the funeral will be announced later.

Vyacheslav Vedenin became a two-time Olympic champion at the 1972 Games in Sapporo. The athlete won the 30 km ski race and the 4x10 km relay. At the last stage of the relay, he played one minute behind the Norwegian Jochs Harviken, thanks to which he brought gold to the USSR.

In Sapporo, Vyacheslav Vedenin also won a bronze medal in the 50 km race. At the 1968 Grenoble Olympics, he won a silver medal in the 50 km race.
