F1's return to Las Vegas was met with skepticism, but the race drew its largest crowd in the past six months.
International sports channel ESPN reported that the broadcast was watched by 1.3 million viewers, even though it started at night and lasted two hours. This is one of the most important figures for the channel this season.
The Formula One Grand Prix was held in Las Vegas for the first time since 1982 and was second only to ABC's June Canadian Grand Prix, which drew an audience of 1.76 million viewers.
Motorsports fans recognize that the race was indeed spectacular. The penalty imposed on Max Verstappen on the first lap was worth it. Fernando Alonso's turn on the starting lap was unexpected. Injured also Lewis Hamilton, whose car was hit by Carlos Sainz's Ferrari. And all of this happened at the start of the race, which is probably what caught the attention and kept the viewers all the way through the broadcast, reports Southern Federal.
According to the results of the Grand Prix of Las Vegas Max Verstappen entered the top three most successful drivers, having won the 18th victory in the season and 53rd in his career. And the sympathy of the public leaned towards Charles Leclair, who became the hero of the race in Las Vegas.
