Soviet basketball player Anatoly Polivoda, 1972 Olympic champion, three-time European champion and 1967 world champion, has died in Ukraine at the age of 76. This was reported in the Ukrainian Basketball Federation.
After winning the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Polivoda ended his sports career due to health problems. He was 25 years old at that time. It is known that Polivoda was later diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
Anatoly Polivoda played for Kiev's Stroitel and for the USSR basketball team.
After Polivoda's death, the two surviving champions of the 1972 Olympics are Modestas Paulauskas and Ivan Yedeshko.
