Australian Open participants must be vaccinated in order to be allowed to participate in the tournament

Tennis players who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus will not be admitted to the season's first Grand Slam tournament.

Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said vaccinations will be a prerequisite for entering the country.

For now, world number one Novak Djokovic does not yet know if he will play in the Australian Open.

"I will not disclose my status, whether I am vaccinated or not. It's a personal matter and asking questions about it is inappropriate."

The Australian Open will be held in Melbourne from Jan. 17-30, 2022.
