New coaching staff of the Russian hockey team for the 2022 Olympics

In February 2022 the Olympic Games will start in Beijing. Alexei Zhamnov, head coach of the Russian ice hockey team, has formed the coaching staff for the coming Games.

The Russian team's coaching staff includes Dynamo Moscow head coach Alexei Kudashov, CSKA head coach Sergei Fedorov, as well as Sergei Gonchar and Evgeny Nabokov. Ilya Kovalchuk will serve as general manager.

“Ilya has participated in five Olympics, knows everyone who is playing now, including many things that I don’t know, which is a big plus. We had experience when Pavel Bure worked as a general manager at the end of his career, ”said Alexey Zhamnov during a press conference.

Oleg Znarok will enter the coaching staff as a consultant; he will not appear on the bench during the Olympics matches. Under his leadership, the Russian ice hockey team won gold medals at the 2014 and 2018 Olympics.

CSKA President Igor Esmantovich and KHL Vice President Valery Kamensky will also act as advisers to the head coach of the Russian national team.
