The meeting must now be approved by FIFA and UEFA.
The Russian national soccer team may play a friendly match with players of the Serbian national team, local publication Tanjug writes. The publication says that the game is approved by the Serbian Football Union.
So far, the only obstacle to holding this match could be a possible ban by FIFA or UEFA. If both sides receive permission, the match will be held on March 21 or 22 at Gazprom-Arena in St. Petersburg.
Recall that the last match to date the Russian national soccer team played on November 20 at the Volgograd Arena - it was a friendly game with the national team of Cuba. Russia won a resounding victory, scoring eight unanswered goals.
Russia played its last official match on November 14, 2021 in the qualifying tournament for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, losing 0:1. On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA suspended the participation of Russian soccer clubs and national teams in international tournaments.
