The Olympic champion made mistakes during the free skating program and according to the results of two skates took only the fourth place.
The team of figure skater Kamila Valiyeva intends to protest the results of the free skating program at the Russian Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Kazan.
Valiyeva was considered the favorite of the tournament, but the short program showed that her competitors Sofya Muravyeva and Alina Gorbacheva were also strong. Before the free program Kamila was leading with a four-point lead.
During the performance of her free skating program, Olympic champion Kamila Valieva failed to perform a quadruple tulup and fell down. The judges also considered that she made a mistake on the choreo track, and they also zeroed one of the figure skater's two sequences. As a result, Valieva's two rolls resulted in only fourth place.
The RIA Novosti source said that Valieva's coaching staff was going to protest the results of the judging immediately after the free skating program, but the protest was not accepted in the hot seat.
"Protests against the judging are not accepted," Alexander Lakernik, vice president of the International Skating Union and a much-experienced referee, told reporters.
