On 8 September there was an incident before the match Nice vs. Cologne: a fan fell from five meters from the first to the second level of the stands of the Allianz Arena as a result of a fierce fight between Nice and Cologne fans and, according to the prefect, got into an "absolutely emergency situation". At the beginning it was announced that it was a German fan, but in fact it is a Parisian fan... It is a Frenchman, a Parisian supporter who was in the ranks of the Germans," Benoît Hubert, chief of staff of the prefect of Alpe-Maritimes, told AFP.

After a fight between French and German fans, the match scheduled for 6:45 p.m. was postponed by 55 minutes and set for 7:40 p.m. (1:1 score). The two clubs faced each other on the first day of Group D of the Europe League Conference, the smallest of the three European soccer cups. According to the prefecture, 32 people were injured on both sides in these violent clashes.

"It is very frustrating that our sport is so vilified that we can no longer say we go to the stadium with our children in peace and safety," said Sports Minister Amelie Udea-Castera.

Nice coach Lucien Favre also reacted to the post-match press conference. "It's disappointing, infuriating. It shouldn't be like this. Another person has been seriously hurt. I've never seen anything like this," he complained.
