The Portuguese exited the tournament yesterday, July 5, in a tense match against France that ended in a scoreless draw and a subsequent 3-5 penalty shootout loss.

"Our goal was higher. We were worthy of more. It was important for us, for every Portuguese, for our country. We are grateful for your support and for what together we were able to achieve. I am convinced that our legacy will be respected and will continue to grow both on and off the pitch. We will continue to move forward together," Ronaldo shared on social media.

Ronaldo, who has been part of the national team since 2003, set a record by playing his 30th match at the European Championships and said this tournament will be his last. France will face Spain in the semifinals on July 9 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Earlier John Terry spoke out about the BBC trolling Ronaldo. Also players of the German national team were banned from meeting with their wives.
