Like his friend Ashraf Hakimi, the PSG star striker is enjoying his final hours of rest. He was absent for Wednesday night's match against Angers and is scheduled to resume on Thursday.
In agreement with the club, Kylian Mbappe and Ashraf Hakimi wanted to resume training and competition a few days after the Qatar World Cup ended. Both players were involved in the 2-1 victory over Strasbourg on Dec. 28, with Mbappe scoring the winning penalty, and then in the loss to Lens, before being able to take a break to prepare for the second half of the season.
The French striker and Moroccan defender, who were rivals in the semifinals of the last World Cup, did not let themselves relax during this break. After a short week in the U.S., where they enjoyed New York City, the two friends used their free time to travel to Marrakech, Morocco, where a few snapshots in a famous restaurant in the city leaked online in recent days.
PSG has a tough task ahead in the next few weeks, with their first Champions League round of 16 match against Bayern Munich on February 14. Christophe Galtier will need his main forces to be at their peak form to be successful. In that sense, everything has been done this winter to ensure that players who were bothered by the recent World Cup can take advantage of the break to regain their strength.
